LearnWorlds Review 2024: A Platform Seriously Worth Considering

learnworlds review

LearnWorlds is one of the best all-in-one online course platforms on the market. It’s not quite as popular as some of its competitors, like Teachable and Kajabi, just yet – but should it be?

That’s what we’re here to find out.

In this in-depth LearnWorlds review, we’ll be putting the eLearning platform to this test to find out exactly what it has to offer and see how it stacks up against the competition (spoiler: the results might surprise you).

We’ll be testing out all of the main features first-hand and going through the process of using LearnWorlds to create a website and online course in order to find out if it lives up to its promise of providing ‘the future of learning, now.’

Ready? Let’s dive into it!

LearnWorlds Review — Highlight Features

LearnWorlds is a full-stack e-learning platform designed to provide users with the complete gamut of tools needed to build a profitable eLearning business.

It offers an extensive range of features designed to help you build, promote, and sell online courses, plus some advanced tools that even the biggest names in the online course platform market don’t yet offer.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Intuitive website builder. LearnWorlds provides an intuitive website builder that allows you to create landing and sales pages for your online school using a template-based frontend editor. It’s incredibly beginner-friendly and doesn’t require any coding skills, but still leaves room for extensive customization.
  • Versatile course builder and player. The LearnWorlds course builder makes it easy to put together outstanding course pathways for your customers. The player itself is one of the most powerful and feature-rich on the market.
  • Unlimited courses. All LearnWorlds plans allow you to create unlimited paid courses, but only the Pro Trainer plan and above support unlimited free courses.
  • Time-saving automation. Powerful automation tools like automatically extracted transcripts and ‘Magic Templates’ that automatically adapt with your page content can save you time and money.
  • Extensive marketing tools. LearnWorlds comes with a ton of in-built marketing tools right out of the box, including remarketing/tracking pixels, SEO-friendly pages/site structure, affiliate marketing tools, and more. And if that’s not enough, it also offers extensive integration options, so you can hook it up to your entire 3rd party marketing stack.
  • Robust analytics. Keep an overview of all the most important metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) using in-built analytics and reporting. See new signups, product sales, and user progress at a glance. Zoom in on specific user segments or zoom out for a wide-angle view.
  • Support for multiple content types. LearnWorlds doesn’t limit your creativity when it comes to course creation. You can include all content types within your lessons, including text, video, e-books, quizzes, surveys, and more.
  • Extensive course interactivity. One of the things that makes LearnWorlds stand out amongst its competitors is its support for interactivity between students and course leaders. It’s one of the only platforms to offer a built-in social platform and supports in-lesson interactions (more on this later).
  • Powerful testing engine. Enrich your students’ learning experience and assess their progress using in-built assessment features like quizzes, assignments, tests, and digital certificates.
  • Flexible pricing support. LearnWorlds offers a powerful sales engine that supports various advanced pricing options. You can sell subscriptions, implement coupons and promotional offers, set up free trials, and more.
  • Mobile app support. LearnWorlds is ahead of the crowd when it comes to mobile learning. They’re the only platform (as far as we’re aware) that supports custom course apps. You can build your own iOS or Android mobile app, complete with in-app purchases and notifications, and start catering to the mobile-first economy – zero coding required.
  • Fully white-label. With LearnWorlds, you can place your own branding on everything, with a custom domain name and even custom native mobile apps.

How Course Creation Works In the LearnWorlds User Interface

For this LearnWorlds review, we signed up for the LearnWorlds course platform ourselves and found the course creation process to be a breeze. Here’s how it works.

Once you sign up, you’ll first be asked to fill out some basic information about what you plan on using LearnWorlds for and your audience so that you can receive more personalized guidance.

versatile course pathways

Next, the setup wizard will prompt you to choose a school name, color scheme, language, timezone, and currency.

Once you’ve done that, the first screen you’ll see will be the LearnWorlds interface. The dashboard can seem a little overwhelming if you’re a complete beginner as there are a lot of things you can do from here, but for now, we’re just going to start the course creation process.

To do that, click Create your first course on the welcome screen or via the side navigation bar.

The course creation wizard will walk you through the next few steps and guide you through the process of setting up your URL, website name, image, description, and course pricing. This is a nice touch to help beginners who aren’t super tech-savvy to get started.

From here, you’re on your own – and online course creation gets a little more complicated. To start creating your course content, click on the Contents section in the top navigation bar.

Next, click on Add section to start creating the basic structure for your course. You can think of sections kind of like your course chapters. Add titles and descriptions for each section, and set which users can access them.

Once you’ve done that, you can start building the content for each section by clicking Add activity. Activities are like course units within each chapter for your students to work through.

As you can see, you have a lot of options here. You can choose to add videos, PDFs, audio files, questionnaires, tests, or even live Zoom meetings. After adding a video, you can hover over the unit and click on the settings icon to choose where you want to bring up the settings page.

On this page, you can choose where you want to load the video from. You can upload a video file from your course video library or load one from Vimeo or Wistia by pasting the ID. If you want to add a companion file (such as lesson resources) for your students to download while they watch, you can add that here too.

Once you’re done changing the settings, you can hover over the activity again and click Preview to see what it’ll look like to your students on the front-end.

It’s that easy! Of course, you don’t have to stop there.

Once you’ve added all your sections and activities, you can customize your course even further in the Course player section.

Here, you can change the player’s skin to match your style and set course navigation restrictions. For example, do you want learners to complete each section sequentially? Or would you like them to be able to navigate freely?

I’d also recommend checking out some of the other tabs on the top nav bar, like the Access tab and the Settings tab. You can explore these tabs and continually tweak your course until it’s exactly what you want it to be.

Creating an Engaging Learning Experience

Most learning management systems (LMS) enable users to create courses, but what makes LearnWorlds stand out amongst others is the incredible level of interactivity it allows you to build in.

Unlike other LMS providers, LearnWorlds targets serious educators like teachers, corporate training, schools, entrepreneurs, and SMBs, rather than solopreneurs.

To cater to this market, it offers a ton of advanced features designed to help users craft the most engaging learning experiences possible and cater to different learning styles.

One such feature is their interactive video player, which allows students to interact with various on-screen elements as they watch your course videos.

It works like this: from the course contents dashboard, hover over a video activity and click Edit video.

On the video editing screen, you can click Add Interaction to add various interactive elements. These include links, true or false buttons, multiple-choice questions (students can click on the screen to choose an answer), interactive offers, and more.

These kinds of interactive elements make students active participants in their own learning. You can also autogenerate and edit an interactive transcript of the video from the same screen.

Other interactive features that can help you to create engaging learning experiences include:

  • Note-taking features. Students can highlight text in interactive eBooks as they read, add digital notes to text content that they can refer back to, and more.
  • Zoom integration. LearnWorlds integrates with Zoom, which allows you to conduct interactive one-to-one or group lessons with your students in real-time.
  • Certificates and awards. Students are more engaged when they know what they’re working towards and can see their progress towards goals. You can use LearnWorlds to set up certificates and awards, which function as milestones to work towards and provide an incentive for your students.

And let’s not forget the social learning tools. LearnWorlds is one of the only online course platforms to include an in-built social networking hub.

Users can create their own profiles which display their achievements, activity, and enrolled courses, network with other learners, ask questions, and exchange tips.

This isn’t just a great motivational tool; it also facilitates collaborative learning amongst students and helps you to build an active and engaged community around your business.

You can change who has access to your community from the Community Access page. From your dashboard, navigate to Settings > School Settings > Community Access.

Here, you can set restrictions to limit access to only paying learners or open it up to free users too. You can also change restrictions on group creation, messaging, and posting.

Building Your Website With LearnWorlds

Once you’ve put your course together, you’ll probably want to build a stunning online school website. Fortunately, this is a pretty painless process with LearnWorlds. The guys behind it have done a great job of creating a website builder that caters to both total beginners and professional developers alike.

There are hundreds of preset design elements that you can choose from, so there’s no need for any coding, and you don’t need to be a professional web designer to make something that looks professional. That being said, if you want more flexibility, you can also add custom code to customize any aspect of the page.

If you signed up to the Starter Plan, you’d only be able to use the LearnWorlds Site Builder to create 3 pages: your home page, a course catalog page, and an after login page. If you signed up for any other plan, the sky’s the limit – you can create as many pages as you want and even add a blog.

To start designing your pages, go to your dashboard and click Site Builder > Edit School Site in the side navigation bar. You’ll then be taken to the page builder interface.

page builder

This interface should be familiar to anyone who has experience using WordPress page building plugins like Elementor.

It’s a front-end page builder, which means you get a live preview of what your website will look like to the end-user as you’re editing it, and you can see the effects of any changes you make in real-time.

Each page consists of a top bar, footer, and individual page sections. To add a new section, simply click Add Section and choose from a huge range of premade templates. For example, you can insert a product CTA, testimonial section, image gallery, FAQ section, contact form, and more.

set templates quickly

Once you’ve added all the different sections to your page, you can click inside them to edit the content, such as by adding, removing, or changing the text, colors, images, and links.

You can also make more advanced customizations, such as by adding blurs and text shadows, creating animations, or tweaking the template layout/settings.

intuitive interface
LearnWorlds Page Builder.

There’s also a bunch of clever automation tools built-in that make it as easy as possible to create a professional-looking page that’s optimized for conversions.

For example, if you change the background color of a certain section, the text color will automatically be changed with it to ensure optimal contrast. If you choose a light background, the text is automatically made darker to stand out, and vice-versa.

This is important as if people can’t read the text clearly, and your CTAs don’t pop off the page, your conversions will suffer.

Under the Actions tab, you can also tweak the visibility of any element on the page. For example, you can choose to only show certain elements to users that are logged in or enrolled in your course, to mobile users, or to users who are tagged with certain keywords.

learner engagement

This kind of adaptive design opens up a world of personalization opportunities. It’s one of the features we like most about LearnWorlds.

Once you’ve finished building your website, you can create alternative versions of it in just a few clicks using the Site Flavors feature.

create web pages

This feature is helpful when you want to make short-term changes to your site without compromising the original design, such as when you’re running a 24-hour promotion. You can quickly tweak the design and layout on the backend, and visitors won’t be able to see any changes you make until you publish them.

Course Sales and Marketing Features

There’s no point in building an awesome course and school website if nobody ever sees it. If you want to drive traffic to your site, generate leads, and land more sales, you need a solid marketing strategy and the right tools for the job.

Fortunately, LearnWorlds provides a bunch of powerful marketing tools right out of the box. We’ll take a look at each of these in turn, but let’s start with the SEO stuff.

LearnWorlds comes with native SEO features designed to give you the best chance of ranking in the search engine results pages (SERPs) for your target keywords.

It uses clean code so that pages load as quickly as possible. This matters because following Google’s Page Experience update; page loading speeds are one of the most important ranking factors.

In the page builder, if you hover over the Page dropdown in the top navigation bar, you’ll see a Page SEO button.

seo optimized pages

Click that to bring up a new window where you can adjust the SEO settings of any page on your school website. You can add an SEO title, description, and image and choose which pages you want to include in your sitemap (this helps with indexing).

seo friendly

Aside from SEO, there are a bunch of other marketing features that can help with your promotional efforts, including:

  • Landing pages and lead magnets. Set up lead magnets like free trials to offer incentives for visitors to sign up for your course or mailing list and maximize your visitor-to-lead conversion rates.
  • Coupons and promotions. Set up promotional discounts and offers that your customers can’t refuse in order to maximize your conversions.
  • Conversion Pixels. LearnWorlds allows you to add conversion pixels to keep track of conversions and remarket your course to your website visitors.
  • Easy affiliate programs. You can set up an affiliate program in minutes from your LearnWorlds dashboard. Just add a new user account, set a commission rate and payment method, and encourage them to start selling for you.

And if all that’s not enough, LearnWorld also integrates with all your favorite third-party marketing tools, including MailChimp, Active Campaign, Zapier, ConvertKit, Google Analytics, and Search Console. See the full list here.

Course Reporting & Analytics

LearnWorlds offers deep analytics and reporting tools to help you keep a close eye on the data that matters. However, if I had to nitpick, my one complaint would be that it’s perhaps a little too much data for the average user. The Reports Center can be overwhelming if you’re a complete beginner.

On the main dashboard, you’ll see a simplified graph that provides an overview of the most important metrics over time: new signups, revenue, product sales, and active learners. You can also see a quick snapshot of your conversion rate and other key data points.

user reports

However, if you want to zoom in and get into the nitty-gritty details, you’ll want to navigate to the Reports Center from the sidebar. Here, you have access to a wealth of data.

The User Analytics section gives you access to information about the progress of each of your students, including their total study time, completed courses, average scores, and more.

learner analytics
Analyze Student Progress and Increase User Engagement Where Possible.

You can use this information to find out things like:

  • How many students are finishing each of your courses? And what can this tell you about engagement or difficulty?
  • Are there any ‘bottlenecks’ in the course, at which point a lot of users seem to give up? And if so, what activities are causing the trouble?
  • Who are your most engaged and active learners?

Each of these questions can provide you with useful insight that you can use to optimize your course materials and continuously improve.

Aside from the above, you can also look at User Segments to find users that satisfy certain criteria and tag them, view your Course Insights to find your best-performing courses, schedule reports, and much more.

How Much Does LearnWorlds Cost and Is It Worth It?

LearnWorlds offers comparable pricing to its main competitors, with various pricing plans to suit all budgets.

LearnWorlds Pricing Plans
LearnWorlds Pricing Page: https://www.learnworlds.com/pricing/

As you can see in the pricing table, LearnWorlds’ entry-level plan (the Starter plan) currently starts at just $24 per month. This puts it in the same ballpark as other similar platforms like Thinkific and Teachable.

However, there are a few catches. First off, while the monthly sign-up price for the Starter plan might be cheap, customers on this plan are also subject to a $5 fee per course sale. This means that if you’re selling at least 10 courses per month, you should expect to pay an extra $50 minimum in fees.

Not only that, but you’ll also be limited to just three pages and will only be able to offer paid courses. Plus, you’ll miss out on some of the more advanced features LearnWorlds has to offer, like customizable checkouts and course players, a website blog, custom certificates, live classes, and affiliate management tools.

With all that in mind, the Starter plan is only really suitable for entrepreneurs who are just starting out. I’d only recommend choosing it if you just want a very basic course site and don’t expect to make more than a handful of sales per month.

For small businesses and serious course sellers with high-volume sales figures, we’d recommend the Pro Learning Center plan, which currently starts at $249 per month. Large enterprises that need more flexible, custom solutions can contact LearnWorlds for a quote.

Now, let’s get to the big money question: is LearnWorlds worth the investment?

The bottom line is yes, we think so. The depth of features LearnWorlds offers puts it at least on par – if not ahead – of its competitors, and the price is very reasonable.

However, the longer answer is that it really depends on your budget and what you’re looking for. For example, if you don’t need access to all the features LearnWorlds has to offer, there are other cheaper (and some free) platforms out there that might be a better fit.

If you’re still not sure, you can always try it out for yourself for free before you buy! LearnWorlds offers an incredibly generous 30-day free trial. There’s no credit card required – just put in your email address, and you can take it for a test spin.

Alternative Online Course Platforms

As we’ve made clear, we think LearnWorlds is a pretty great online course platform for selling online courses. However, it isn’t the only one out there, and it might not be the best fit for every business.

With that in mind, before we wrap up this LearnWorlds review, let’s take a quick look at some alternatives to LearnWorlds that you might want to consider instead to create and sell online courses.

Teachable

Teachable is one of the most popular online course platforms out there. Over 100,000 people have used it to sell online courses to date.

Unlike LearnWorlds, Teachable doesn’t aim to be an all-in-one LMS. It doesn’t include a website builder and instead integrates with your existing website.

This makes it a great choice for anyone who already has a website, just wants to create a course, and doesn’t need all the bells and whistles that platforms like LearnWorlds offer.

Price-wise, it’s in the same range as LearnWorlds, with paid plans starting from $29/month at the lower end and going all the way up to $249/month at the higher end.

However, unlike LearnWorlds, Teachable also offers a completely free plan. I’m not talking about a time-limited free trial – I mean a free-for-life plan. The catch is that the free version is very limited in terms of features. It also comes with fees of $1 + 10% of the transaction fee per course sale.

Thinkific

Thinkific is another titan of the eLearning industry. It’s used by over 50,000 course creators across 165 countries and has powered courses taken by over 100 million people.

Like LearnWorlds, Thinkific is an all-in-one platform complete with a drag-and-drop website builder, course building software, and a powerful sales engine.

The main difference between LearnWorlds and Thinkific is that the former mainly targets schools, small businesses, and educators, whereas the latter is built for entrepreneurs.

Thinkific offers a limited free plan. Paid plans start at $39 per month.

Kajabi

Kajabi is another online course platform with all the tools including a powerful integrated website builder, excellent analytics and reporting features, outstanding in-built marketing tools, and more. It aims to offer everything you need in one unified interface, so you don’t have to rely on any third-party apps.

One thing that makes Kajabi different is its powerful email marketing tools. Unlike LearnWorlds, Kajabi offers a visual email builder that lets you quickly put together beautiful email messages and send them to your subscribers. Hence, there’s no need to rely on integration with third-party email marketing tools like MailChimp.

However, all that comes with a hefty price tag. Kajabi’s entry-level plan is a lot more expensive than LearnWorlds at $119 per month. There’s no free plan option, but you can sign up for a 14-day free trial.

Those are just three of the many course platforms on the market that are worth considering, but that’s all we have time for today. We hope you found this LearnWorlds review useful. Good luck!
