Kajabi Vs ConvertKit (2024): In-Depth Comparison

Kajabi Vs Convertkit - Blog Image

If you’re hoping to sell digital products online, you might have heard of Kajabi and ConverKit.

Both of these popular marketing platforms provide entrepreneurs with a suite of tools to help them build, manage, and grow their online business.

But despite this shared goal, they’re nonetheless two very different products. Each offers different tools and is targeted towards a different market segment.

In this apples-to-apples comparison of Kajabi vs ConvertKit, we’ll be looking at the features they have in common to see how they stack up against each other.

We’ll also be looking at pricing, support, and everything you need to know to figure out which one is the best choice for your business.

Ready? Let’s get started!

Kajabi Overview

Kajabi is an all-in-one platform built for knowledge entrepreneurs. This makes it the best choice if you plan on selling online courses or coaching services.

Unlike ConvertKit, Kajabi doesn’t just help you sell your knowledge products—you can also use it to create them.

Kajabi’s core feature is its course creation platform. You can use it to build your entire course curriculum from scratch. Alternatively, you can start by selecting one of Kajabi’s knowledge product Blueprints (pre-made templates) and customize it.

In addition to this, Kajabi also offers a bunch of other tools, including email marketing tools, a landing page builder, sales funnel builder, shopping cart, blogging solution, podcasting software, and more

All of these features are fully integrated into one complete package. This makes Kajabi a true all-in-one platform. You have everything you need out of the box, so you don’t have to rely on any third-party integrations.

Convertkit Overview

ConvertKit is a ‘creator marketing platform’ best known for its powerful email marketing and automation features.

Unlike Kajabi, it isn’t built specifically for knowledge businesses, and it doesn’t come with a course creation platform or any other tools to help you make knowledge products.

Instead, it’s built to help creators and solopreneurs sell digital products and manage their online businesses.

To achieve this, ConverKit gives users access to a suite of tools, including a landing page builder, form builder, email marketing platform, automations builder, and commerce features.

You can use ConverKit to build your landing pages, collect leads, and then create an automated sales funnel that nurtures those leads until they’re ready to purchase with email marketing.

Like Kajabi, ConvertKit is very much an all-in-one platform and can replace most of the tools you’d usually need to run your online business.

The exception to this is a course builder, so if you want to use ConvertKit to sell an online course, you’ll need to use a third-party platform to build it first.

Kajabi Vs ConvertKit – Page Builders

Kajabi and ConvertKit come with flexible and easy-to-use landing page builders.

Their page builders have a lot in common: both use the usual drag-and-drop editor with a real-time preview window, and both also use grid-based systems, which means you can only drop elements within set rows and columns.

However, that’s where the similarities end.

The main difference between them is that you just can’t do as much in ConvertKit’s page builder

Convert Kit Page Builder

Once you’ve chosen your page template, you can’t drag additional widgets and page sections in from the sidebar. You can only customize the elements that are already on the page and edit styling elements like background images, text, fonts, etc.

It does the trick if you just want a basic squeeze page to grow your mailing list. However, if you want more control or to build other types of pages like blog posts and product pages, you might struggle.

Kajabi, on the other hand, offers a true landing page builder. It feels much more flexible and easier to work with.

Kajabi Landing Page Builder

You can quickly edit the layout of your page by adding, reordering, or removing page sections from the left-hand sidebar. There are a bunch of cool sections (widgets) to choose from, including countdown timers, accordions, video embeds, pricing tables, and more.

We also liked the fact that you can preview your landing pages on different devices by toggling between desktop and mobile views.

A final point worth mentioning here is templates. Both Kajabi and ConvertKit offer a variety of page templates that you can open up in the editors and customize, rather than starting from scratch each time.

But again, we felt Kajabi’s templates were a little stronger, with a wider variety of templates for every type of web page.

Which Page Builder Is Best?

Overall, we think Kajabi’s page builder is best. It offers more design freedom and control than ConvertKit’s page editor, which felt very boxed in. We also preferred the page templates on Kajabi.

Kajabi Vs ConvertKit – Email Marketing

Both ConvertKit and Kajabi come with built-in email marketing tools. This is an essential feature in an all-in-one platform as it provides a way for you to nurture your leads to purchase and communicate with visitors after they leave your landing pages.

Both platforms offer email templates and an easy-to-use visual email editor, where you can tweak the design and change the content. They also both offer email templates, personalization tools, and more.

ConvertKit’s templates are deliberately simple and clean (but perhaps a little boring), as these types of emails tend to load more quickly and convert better, and the editing process is straightforward and user-friendly.

You can use ConvertKit to send one-off email broadcasts or create automated email sequences.

There are also a few cool advanced features like automated email resends to prospects that don’t open them the first time, reusable blocks and email templates, etc.

Kajabi seemed to be a little more flexible when it comes to designing your emails. The drag-and-drop interface is easy to work with. You can add cool widgets like countdown timers, videos, and other rich media elements directly into your emails, which helps boost conversion rates.

Which Tool Has The Best Email Marketing Features?

It’s tough to pick a winner here, but if we were pushed, we’d vote ConvertKit. Its automation capabilities are second to none, and the whole email system is very easy to use and beginner-friendly.

Kajabi Vs ConvertKit – Digital Products

While both Kajabi and ConvertKit can be used to sell digital products online, each focuses on different types of digital products.

ConvertKit mostly caters to content creators like musicians, podcasters, authors, coaches, photographers, and artists. As such, it’s best if you’re selling digital products like:

  • Music tracks
  • Memberships
  • Ebooks
  • Paid newsletters
  • Photo or video presets
  • Other downloadable media

You can use ConvertKit to create your product pages complete with buy-now buttons so you can start making sales.

Kajabi mostly caters to knowledge entrepreneurs. It’s the best choice for all kinds of knowledge products. This includes things like:

  • Online courses
  • Mini courses
  • Drip courses
  • Coaching programs
  • Communities
  • Membership sites
  • Podcasts

Kajabi offers ‘Product Blueprints’ for most of the above. These Blueprints serve as pre-made templates that can give you a kickstart on creating your products.

Once your digital product is ready to sell, you can create your sales pages and use the built-in CRM to manage your leads and customers.

Which Tool Is Best For Selling Digital Products?

It comes down to the kind of digital products you want to sell.

Kajabi is best for selling knowledge-related products like courses, membership sites, and coaching programs.

ConvertKit is best for creative products like ebooks, music, and downloadable media files.

Support Options

Kajabi provides some great options for its users when it comes to support. Firstly, they offer Kajabi University, which is a free membership e-learning site that includes tons of guides, resources, and courses to help you learn more about Kajabi and make the most of its features.

You can also find general information and resources that can help you make your online business a success. Kajabi also offers 24/7 chat support as well as an active Facebook group, webinars, and a yearly user summit.

ConvertKit support differs based on the plan you choose. All customers can access how-to guides, blog articles, workshops, community support, podcasts, and the ConvertKit knowledgebase.

However, only paid customers can access live chat and email support. Creator Pro customers also get access to priority live chat and email support.

Which Tool Has The Best Support Options?

Out of the two, Kajabi is the clear winner when it comes to support. All customers can access 24/7 chat support, and Kajabi University is extremely extensive and useful.

That being said, ConvertKit does offer a lot of different ways for users to learn more about the product, and the chat and email support options are useful if you’re a paid customer.

Kajabi Pricing

Kajabi offers 3 different pricing plans suitable for different-sized businesses. Below is a breakdown of what’s included in each plan.

The Basic plan is the cheapest Kajabi plan, and it starts from $119/month when billed annually. This plan is suitable for 1 website and 1 admin user.

The Basic plan can be used to create unlimited landing pages and marketing emails; however, it’s quite limited in other areas. For example, you can only create 3 products and 3 pipelines, and you’re limited to only 10,000 contacts and 1,000 active members.

The Basic plan also includes a range of additional features such as 0% transaction fees, access to webinars, events, and Kajabi University, templates, assessments, and automations. You also get a customer success activation call and chat support with this plan.

Growth

The Growth Plan is Kajabi’s mid-tier offering which starts from $159/month when billed annually. The plan is suited to small businesses and includes up to 15 products and pipelines.

You can connect one website and have up to 10 admin users on this plan. Like the Basic Plan, you can create unlimited landing pages and marketing emails.

Limits are slightly higher on this plan, so you can have up to 25,000 contacts and 10,000 active members at any time. You also get access to additional features like 24/7 Chat support, advanced automations, the ability to remove Kajabi branding and affiliate program features, as well as all features included in the Basic plan.

Pro

Pro is Kajabi’s most expensive plan, and it starts from $309/month when billed annually. This plan is suitable for large businesses and agencies, and the limits of the plan reflect this.

For example, you can create up to 100 products and pipelines on this plan, and you can have 100,000 contacts and 20,000 active members at any one time. You can also connect 3 sites and have as many as 25 admin users.

Features-wise, the Pro plan includes all Basic and Growth features and an additional code editor that can allow you more customization when it comes to creating your pages and products.

The Creator plan starts from as little as $9 for up to 300 subscribers. It includes all features that the Free plan offers, as well as automated funnels and sequence features, live chat & email support, and free migration from another tool. The price of this plan increases based on the number of subscribers on your list. For example, if you have 1000 subscribers, the price will increase to $25/month instead of $9.
