What Is ClickMagick?
ClickMagick is one of the most comprehensive tracking tools on the market. It’s more than just a link tracker—it’s an all-in-one marketing analytics solution that provides you with everything you need to track, test, and optimize your entire sales funnel.
It was founded in 2014 and has been used by over 122,000 entrepreneurs and small businesses to date.
The core purpose of ClickMagick is to show you who’s clicking your links, which sources those clicks are coming from, and which of those clicks are leading to sales. Once you’re armed with this data, you can use it to better optimize your marketing efforts.
For example, you’ll be able to tell whether or not a certain ad campaign is generating the expected number of sales and delivering a positive return on investment (ROI).
And if not, you can shut it down and redirect your time and money into traffic sources that are more profitable.
You’ll also be able to find out things like which of the links on your landing pages are getting the most clicks, what kind of traffic quality you’re getting from your email campaigns, and see all of your key marketing metrics in one place.
And since it’s completely cloud-based, you can do everything you need to do from one easy-to-use web portal. You can set up all your link and campaign tracking and monitor all the links you’ve entered into the system from your online dashboard.
Of course, this is only just scratching the surface of what you can do with ClickMagick. It’s jam-packed with other advanced features that marketers and online businesses will find useful, which we’ll explore in more detail shortly.

ClickMagick has a very broad feature set. There’s a lot you can do with it, so we’re just going to focus on what we think are the most important features.
Tracking Links
Tracking Links are pretty much the ‘core’ feature of ClickMagick. They’re basically custom links that track clicks and collect data about the visitors who pass through them (e.g. where they’re located, the device they’re using, etc.).
They work using URL redirects, which means that when a visitor clicks the link, their browser immediately redirects them to the destination URL (that’s your landing page), and their information is tracked.
The only problem is that major ad networks like Google and Facebook Ads don’t like URL redirects. Therefore, you should use the Campaigns feature to track clicks through these channels instead (more on this later). In all other cases, you can use Tracking Links.
Creating a new tracking link couldn’t be easier. From your dashboard, just switch to the Links tab and click on New Link. Now all you need to do is choose a name for the link, add your URL and link slug, and you’re done.
ClickMagick will then automatically track anyone that goes through the link.
Of course, this is all very basic stuff that you can do with pretty much any link tracker or URL generator (even the free ones). However, what makes ClickMagick special is all the advanced settings you can apply.
We won’t go into detail about all of these settings just yet as we’ll be covering many of them later in this review, but here’s a sneak-peak:
From the tabs shown here, you can add pixel codes (essential for retargeting), set up geotargeting options, filter out unwanted clicks, and much more.
Targeting Options
One of the coolest things about ClickMagick is its targeting features.
You can set up your Tracking Links and Rotators to send your visitors to different landing pages based on the type of device they’re using or their geographical location.
For example, you might want to send visitors from different counties to localized versions of your landing pages in their own language and currency or only include tier 1 countries in certain Tracking Links.
Or, you might want to send mobile or tablet users to mobile-optimized versions of your site.
This can help you to create a more personalized user experience and significantly increase your conversion rates.
Sub-IDs
Another thing we really liked about ClickMagick is its support for sub-IDs—something most other link tracking solutions lack.
Sub-IDs are unique identifiers that enable you to track clicks on a granular level.
For example, let’s say I have a landing page with multiple ‘buy now’ button links: one at the top, in the middle, and at the bottom of the page, and I want to track clicks to each of those button links independently.
With most other link trackers, I’d have to create separate tracking links for each button, but with ClickMagick, I can just use one tracking link and add multiple sub-IDs. All I have to do is append an ID for each button to the end.
For example, if my regular tracking link was:
https://www.clkmg.com/example/linkSlug
I could add a sub-ID for the top button like this:
https://www.clkmg.com/example/linkSlug/Button1
Once I’ve set up my sub-IDs, I’ll be able to identify which clicks came through each button and which led to conversions in my sub-ID stats and reports.
You can open up the report by clicking on the first icon to the right of your tracking link and selecting Sub-ID Stats.
Campaign Tracking
As we mentioned briefly earlier, Google Ads and Facebook Ads don’t like cross-domain redirects, so regular tracking links won’t work for your ad campaigns.
Fortunately, that’s what the Campaigns feature is for. It allows you to track traffic and conversions from your ad campaign clicks via industry-standard UTM codes and first-party cookies. No tracking links or redirects are required.
And it’s pretty easy to set up.
To start tracking your campaigns, the first step is to add the click tracking code to your landing pages and the conversion tracking code to your ‘thank you’ page or any other page where you want to track important actions or sales.
Then, create UTMs for your landing page URL to use in your ad campaigns (this is usually done via a tracking template in Google/Facebook ads dashboard).
And once you’ve done that, simply launch your campaign and start driving traffic, and ClickMagick will take care of the rest.
It’ll automatically track your paid ad, PPC, and other promotional link clicks and slice and dice the data for you.
At a glance, you’ll be able to see key metrics like visitors, ROI, ad spend, opt-in and conversion rates, average order value, lifetime customer value, revenue, etc., for every traffic source and campaign.
You can view graphs for any metric just by clicking on them.
Cross-Device Tracking
These days, it seems that more or less everyone has a bunch of different devices that they switch between throughout the day.
They might use their mobile phone while they commute, their desktop at work, laptop at the coffee shop, and tablet at home.
This makes it difficult to track your visitor’s true activity. Many link trackers can’t tell when the same visitor accesses your website on a different device.
To the software, it looks like you’ve had three different clicks from three different unique visitors. But in reality, it’s all the same person. This can lead to misleading data.
Fortunately, this isn’t a problem with ClickMagick.
It offers true cross-device tracking, which means you’ll be able to monitor your visitors’ behavior regardless of what device they access your website on and can have confidence that your data is accurate.
External Page Tracking
Most websites are set up so that when one of your website visitors converts (i.e. makes a purchase or opts into a form), they’re sent to a ‘thank you’ page.
As we mentioned briefly earlier, ClickMagick (and most other link tracking software) track your website conversions by adding a conversion pixel to this thank you page.
The conversion pixel fires whenever someone is directed to the page and tells ClickMagick that a conversion has just taken place.
The only problem is that in order to add that all-important conversion pixel to your page, you need access to the website code.
This isn’t an issue if you own the domain, but what if you’re an affiliate marketing who’s sending traffic to an external domain that you don’t own?
Well, ClickMagick thought of that too and has implemented a neat workaround.
You can set it up so that when somebody converts on the other domain, they’ll first be very briefly sent to a blank page with your conversion pixel on, then redirected to the external page.
It all happens very quickly, and the user won’t even notice, but ClickMagick will know a conversion’s taken place.
Rotators
Rotators are links that distribute your traffic to different destination pages the way you want them to.
If you’ve ever run a split testing campaign, it’s kind of similar to that, except you’re not testing anything – you’re just distributing traffic.
You can choose the way you want traffic to be distributed by setting the Rotator Mode. For example, you might want to distribute click traffic to different landing pages:
- Sequentially: The first click is sent to page A, the second click to page B, the third click to page C, and the fourth click back to page A again, then the pattern repeats.
- Randomly: Clicks are distributed at random to all the included pages.
- By order fulfillment: Clicks are sent solely to the first page in the rotator until it’s reached a specified amount of clicks.
Again, you have a lot of control over your rotators in the advanced settings. You can set individual rules for things like geotargeting and traffic quality.
Split Testing
You can also set up and run A/B tests using ClickMagick.
To do so, all you have to do is click the spanner icon next to any Tracking Link and select Split Testing. You’ll then be brought to the Split Testing settings page.
Here, you can add as many page variations as you like and set the ‘weight’ to specify the portion of your traffic that you want to allocate to each of them.
You can also set what you want to optimize for: actions, engagements, sales, or earnings per click.
You can start running traffic once you’ve done that, and ClickMagick will automatically look for a winner.
ClickShield (Bot Blocker)
Whenever you run ad campaigns, it’s inevitable that at least some of your clicks will be coming from bots (software programs) or, worse, competitors trying to drive up your costs.
These types of clicks don’t convert to sales and do nothing but drive up your ad spend.
Fortunately, ClickMagick’s Click Shield feature can help you to combat bot traffic and worse.
You can set up fraud monitoring traffic quality rules to define what kind of clicks you want and what kind of clicks you want to block. The result is more effective campaigns at a lower cost.
Offline Conversion Tracking
ClickMagick isn’t just for online conversion tracking—you can also use it to track your offline and phone conversions.
In fact, ClickMagick is one of the only platforms suitable for small businesses that enable you to track offline conversions.
To set up offline conversion tracking, select it from the Tools dropdown menu.
Then, you’ll need to record any conversions you generate offline by entering the customer or prospect’s visitor ID or click ID to Offline Conversions.
The conversion will then be attributed to the relevant Tracking Link or Campaigns project.
It’s as easy as that. Just note that this feature is usually used by businesses that have CRMs or autoresponders. More details here.
Traffic Quality Score
Another cool thing ClickMagick can do is assess your traffic quality.
The platform will automatically assign a unique Traffic Quality Score to every link you set up.
And, if your Quality Score seems lower than expected, it’ll notify you so that you can investigate.
This can help you to determine which of your traffic sources are most profitable.
It’s especially useful if you’re running solo ads as it can be tough to find reliable, trustworthy vendors.
Alerts and Notifications
Suspicious traffic quality isn’t the only thing ClickMagick can notify you about. You can actually set up alerts and notifications for any of your tracking links.
To do so, click the spanner icon next to any of your tracking links, then select Link Notifications. You’ll then see a settings page like this:
Here, you can choose when you want to be notified by email about your link performance by setting up a simple ‘If X, then Y’ automation.
You have a bunch of options here and can choose between triggers like:
- Action conversion rate
- Engagement conversion rate
- Sales conversion rate
- Earnings per click
- Average customer value
Once you’ve selected your trigger, you can input the figure it has to be less than or greater than before the notification is sent and the number of clicks required.
For example, if your expected action conversion rate is around 3%-6%, you might want to set it up so that you get a notification if it drops below 2%.
This can function as a kind of early warning system to tell you that something has likely gone wrong.
And the sooner you know there’s a problem, the sooner you can fix it.
Attribution Modeling
ClickMagic is great for affiliate marketing as it provides advanced attribution models.
By default, it uses the ‘last click’ attribution model, in which credit for the conversion goes to the affiliate whose link was clicked last before the sale.
However, if you want to mix it up, you can. You can choose between various models, including:
- First click
- Linear
- Position-based
- Time-decay
- Last click

As you can see, the Starter Plan misses out on some features that I’d consider very important for most businesses (like cross-device tracking and Click Shield), so the Standard plan is probably going to be the best choice in most instances. 100k clicks per month should be more than sufficient for most users.
And if you have more clicks than that, then the jump up in price up to the Pro plan will probably be negligible compared to your revenue figures.
ClickMagick Review – Is It Worth It?
So, let’s get to the big question: should you invest in ClickMagick?
If you do any sort of online marketing, I’d say yes—probably.
It’s essential to know where your clicks and conversions are coming from to continually optimize your campaigns and prioritize the most profitable channels.
You might be able to make do with basic free alternatives like Google Analytics—or with the stats provided by your ad networks and autoresponder software, etc.—but there’s a limit to what you can do with these solutions; you’ll likely soon outgrow them.
Plus, you can never be certain that the data you’re getting is 100% accurate and tells the whole picture.
Conversely, ClickMagick gives you pinpoint accuracy and provides access to all your key marketing metrics in one single dashboard.
And there are other reasons to invest in ClickMagick too.
For example, the bot click filtering feature can help you save money on your ad campaigns—money that you’d basically be throwing away without it.
And over time, those savings add up. If you’re running a ton of PPC campaigns, ClickMagick could pay for itself with this feature alone.
